Hi there! Thanks for checking out the Arts Quincy blogs! Here’s a little bit about me…
My name is Taylor Tweedell and I am Arts Quincy’s intern for the summer of 2018. I was born and raised in Quincy and I am so proud to call this creative community home! I love the fact that programs such as the library’s summer reading program and QFest have been around since I was a child and are still a huge part of my life today. The arts began to impact me when I began training at Heinze Dance Academy at the age of three, and I continued dancing there until I graduated from high school. I played piano when I was younger too, but then took to the violin in the fourth grade through the Quincy Public Schools. In junior high, I joined choir and took voice lessons. I also performed in the Quincy Community Theatre’s Triple Threat Boot Camp and in several of their student theatre productions.
In high school, I was an active member in the QHS Concert Orchestra, Concert Choir, Show Choir, musicals, New Faces productions, and was a Q-City Pommer and captain of the squad my senior year. My senior year I also volunteered with QFest and was a special maid in the Art Center’s Beaux Arts Ball. I then graduated from QHS in June of 2017 and headed to Oklahoma City University where I am currently studying dance.
I just completed my freshman year and I have loved every minute of learning and improving upon my dancing abilities. As I grew, so did my passion for the arts and their impact on my life. This summer I am so excited to give back to some of the arts programs that have touched my life so much. I cannot wait to keep you posted on all of the inspiring and exciting adventures that I go on this summer as I dive into all of the artistic opportunities Quincy has to offer. Be sure to come up and say hi to me at any arts events you attend, I would love to get to know fellow art lovers. This summer is sure to be the best one yet!
