Beyond the books, Rachelle organizes a range of free educational and recreational activities for adult patrons throughout the year. From crafting earrings and sampling teas to watching romantic comedies and solving puzzles, Rachelle ensures that there’s always something engaging for adults to do at the library.
"I love talking to people about what they get with a library card; they never realize how much we offer and it’s not just programming," she shared. Rachelle is excited for the library's new Seed Library which offers over 430 varieties of vegetable and flower seeds for patrons to take home at no cost. As an avid reader, Rachelle also appreciates the library’s digital resources, including eBooks and audiobooks available on Libby, Boundless and Hoopla, as well as films on Kanopy and magazines on Flipster. Additionally, Rachelle champions the adult side of the Summer Reading program. She says there is a common misconception that the programs are only for children. Adults who participate in the Summer Reading program will get a ticket to QPL’s Book-It and Beer event this summer! She encourages the community to regularly check the library calendar for upcoming events including monthly book clubs, visits from Rhodes Scholars and music trivia nights. Thanks to Rachelle's efforts, adults in the community have ongoing opportunities to enjoy activities, make new connections, and engage with the resources available at QPL. Reserve your seat for programming and learn more about the wide array of services online at quincylibrary.org or call 217-222-1309 for assistance. All ages are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program which kicks off June 1! The theme, Read, renew, repeat is a wonderfully diversified program that encourages reading as a restorative method of self-improvement and self-preservation. Those who turn in a weekly reading-log will be entered to win prizes and be eligible for the grand prize at the end of the program in July.
