The Work of Art
Visual art, music, theater and humanities create a vibrant cultural community. They also provide employment, attract tourists, complement businesses, enhance property values, expand the tax base, attract well-educated employees, and contribute to a creative and innovative environment that is needed in today’s business world!
Arts Quincy partnered with Americans for the Arts to administer the Arts and Economic Prosperity IV study locally. The most comprehensive study of its kind, it inventories local cultural organizations and analyzes the direct impact of activities and audiences. The results indicate that the arts sector across Adams County was a major economic driver. The arts:
- Create $15.6 million in local economic activity
- Generate $1.18 million local and state tax revenue
- Support 625 and growing full-time equivalent jobs
- Provide $9,886,000 local household income
