The sights and sounds of the holiday season will fill the air at the Quincy Senior High School Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 10. Show times for QHS Vespers Concerts are 2 pm and 7 pm. The annual holiday concert will features High School Concert Orchestra, Concert Chorale, Concert Choir and Madrigal Choir. The Quincy High School choirs, under the direction of Paul Shelor, will begin the program with the traditional Candlelight Processional. More than 150 choir members will perform “Come Singing Noel” followed by traditional carols surrounding the audience. The Concert Orchestra will perform “Hatikvah,” “The Bells of Christmas,” and a variety of others. The orchestra is directed by Bethany Otte.
The QHS Brass Choir, directed by Jeff Duffy will lead the audience in carols throughout the program, as well as perform several prelude selections. Vespers 2023 will also include the traditional singing of Handel’s, “Hallelujah Chorus,” presented by the Concert Choir, Alumni and the QHS Orchestra. The program finale will “Silent Night,” arranged by the late Clyde Bassett, the longtime QHS Orchestra and Quincy Symphony Orchestra Director. Admission for is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets will be available online beginning Wednesday, Nov. 29, available at qps.org/departments/music. All seats are reserved. The Quincy Senior High School Varsity Chorale, Freshman Chorale, Symphonic Strings and Symphonic Band will be heard in concert on Monday, Dec. 11 at 7 pm in the QHS Theatre. Tickets for that concert are $2 and will be available at the door. Patrons who attended Vespers will be admitted free to the Monday evening concert.
