Adams County, IL - In 2025, Adams County, Illinois, will proudly mark its 200th anniversary, and the Adams County Bicentennial Commission (ACBC) is thrilled to announce community-driven plans for a year-long celebration. To honor this significant occasion, throughout 2024, the ACBC would like to invite businesses, organizations and people to create, execute or participate in activities that commemorate the stories of our people and places to mark this historic occasion. All are committed to presenting a diverse and engaging celebration that reflects the rich tapestry of our County's collective history. "The Adams County Bicentennial is not just a celebration of our past; it's a celebration of the people who have made this county what it is today," said Chuck Scholz, Chair of the Bicentennial Commission. "We want this year to be a reflection of the varied mosaic of Adams County – its history, its people, and its potential for the future."
Established in 1825, Adams County has witnessed two centuries of growth, resilience, and community strength, playing a pivotal role in the history of our State, region, and nation. From leaders emerging during the Civil War to our lasting impact on agriculture, industry, healthcare, and education, our story is one of tenacity and accomplishment. The county, rich in history and steeped in community spirit, stands at the threshold of a momentous milestone where we can celebrate with a grand tapestry of programming to include opportunities to educate, celebrate and commemorate this significant occasion.
