Students, organizers and music lovers of all ages will enjoy one of Quincy High School’s 31st annual Showcase of Excellence. This well-loved tradition will be at Quincy Senior High School on Saturday, March 9 from 8 am-9 pm. The annual Showcase of Excellence competition attracts high school jazz bands and show choirs from across the region to showcase their musical talents during their performances and to work with expert clinicians.
The public is invited to enjoy a day full of performances. Tickets are available at the doors and are good for all performances. Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to support music education at all grade levels in the Quincy Public Schools. Call 217-224-3774 for more details. Visitors can come and go throughout the day and enjoy performances by talented jazz bands in the QHS gym and show choirs in the theatre. Food is available in the cafeteria. The day will culminate with awards and a grand finale performance by the QHS Jazz Band and QHS Show Choir, “Electric Blue.” “We are so appreciative of the continued support of the Quincy community each year for our annual Showcase,” shared Debbie Johnson, Director of Music Education. “Many of our visiting groups return each year for the event. Some groups will stay in Quincy overnight and visit local restaurants and attractions during their visit, enabling the entire Quincy community to benefit from this annual event.”
