2023-2024 Community Arts Resource Guide

Arts Quincy is excited to present the 2023-2024 Community Arts Resource Guide. This is a catalog listing opportunities in the arts for teachers applying to receive Instant Arts Classroom Grants. For these Instant Arts Classroom Grants, K-6th grade teachers can apply for up to $150 to take their students on a field trip or bring a teaching artist into the classroom.
This publication includes information about teaching artists and arts organizations that offer programs in visual and performing arts, history and literature. You can help us bring arts opportunities to students by offering your educational services to teachers through this program.

We hope teachers will find this booklet useful as they plan meaningful, rigorous and enjoyable arts education experiences for their students this year.

Popular opportunities include:
A class field trip to take a tour and do an activity or workshop at the following locations: Quincy Art Center, Quincy Community Theatre, Quincy Museum, Quincy Public Library, Governor John Wood Mansion & grounds, History Museum on the Square, Underground Railroad Museum, Log Cabin Village, Prairie Mills Windmill in Golden and Villa Kathrine.

In-class or grade-level activities are provided by individual teaching artists and arts education instructors for visual arts projects, performing arts workshops or interactive exhibits.

In-school assemblies are also popular with performing arts including plays, music concerts, interactive exhibit displays, and more with Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association’s Young People’s Concerts in March, Muddy River Opera Company in conjunction with JWCC, QU and C-SC touring production in the spring and Quincy Community Theatre’s “On the Road” production at the end of the school year.

Click on the link below and you will find the current information we have on file. Please reply back with changes or corrections so we can update the listings before we send it out to the schools. If you would like to list a new program, send us a short blurb describing the program, the cost per student/classroom, contact information for the person with whom to schedule the activity, available dates, a photo and other information as you see fit.

Your assistance with this part will help teachers plan their curriculum for the school year.  We value your input on how to improve arts education initiatives and serve more students efficiently. Please send comments or questions to [email protected].

We are always looking to add to our Community Arts Resource Guide! If you have any questions about our guide, would like to be listed, or have suggestions of service we currently don’t have listed, but should, email [email protected] or call 217-222-3432.
