Library Expands Outreach Services

The Quincy Public Library Outreach Services department currently serves over 170 patrons in the Quincy area on a bi-weekly basis delivering to individual homes and community living centers. 

​“We work closely with patrons and activity directors to support lifelong literacy for enjoyment and learning and to ensure that patrons can access the services of the library even when they can no longer make it to our physical location,” said Carrie Hummel, Outreach Specialist. 
Patrons experiencing a permanent or temporary disability that prevents them from coming to the library should contact Outreach Services to find out more about receiving home delivery.  
Outreach School Delivery service provides delivery of library materials to Quincy teachers once a month to complement curriculum, foster students’ love of reading and supplement materials found in individual school library collections. From picture books to research materials, the outreach program serves teachers from Pre-K to high school at all the local public and parochial schools as well as many childcare centers and preschools. Anyone who teaches in Quincy may obtain a Quincy Public Library educator card regardless of where they reside and sign up for School Delivery service.  
QPL is bringing a Mobile Library to Quincy in the Fall of 2024! Until then, Outreach Services are getting out and spreading the library love and promoting early literacy in Quincy. 
Early literacy professionals and the children they serve will get a sneak peek of our mobile services in March, April and May with “Little Library Van” visits including story time, ability to check out picture books and to sign up for Quincy Public Library educator cards. Little Library Van visits sign up continues until Wednesday, Jan. 24 for monthly visits in March, April and May of 2024.
