QHS Spring Play: Deceiving Granny

Quincy Senior High School’s theatre department will close the 2023-2024 school year with the zany farce, Deceiving Granny.
 
The plot is centered around newlyweds Sam and Margaret Howard.  The couple discover they are in line to inherit $3.5 million from his great-grandmother whom he has never met. But before she is willing to add them to her will she wants to meet Sam and his new wife face to face to make sure they are “worthy.” Of course, nothing goes smoothly, especially since Sam is hiding an expensive diamond necklace for his boss, two burglars mistake their home for another, and the neighbor’s vague grandmother has wandered off…and may be somewhere in their house! Their friends, Rob and Kelsey, go to extremes to help the newlyweds when they think the “real” great-grandmother has died after eating peanuts. With Rob dressed and acting like an old lady, can the two couples pull off their scam in spite of a curious cop and cautious attorney? The funny and frantic action never slows in this farce!

Senior Lucas Piazza & junior Gabby Hanchett play the newlywed couple with seniors Lily Twaddle and Colin Egbert as their carefree friends, Rob & Kelsey. An array of outlandish neighbors, friends, cops and robbers, and even an attorney round out this bizarre cast of characters. Other cast members include seniors Sullivan Holthaus & Aidan Hutton, juniors Evie Tallcott, Keyarri Holder, Miller Robertson, & Adelaide Teefey, sophomore Conall Wolfmeyer, and freshman Miriam Teefey.

The production is under the direction of Meghan Buckley with David Buckley overseeing technical direction. Seniors Allison Stephenson, Devon Miller & Kate Heagy will oversee stage management and junior Madison Daggett and sophomore Addison Gosteli will serve as student directors.  There are 33 QHS students actively involved in the production.

Show dates are May 9-10-11 at 7:00 pm in the Quincy Senior High School Theatre.  Tickets are priced at $8 for students and $12 for adults.  Tickets go on sale April 17 and may be purchased online at www.qps.org/departments/music.  For more information, please call the Quincy Senior High School Music Office at 217-224-3774.
